The Ministry of Economy and Finance, with a view to modernize and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of its services, hired - after an international tender - the consortium led by Netcompany-Intrasoft (INTRACOM IT SERVICES SA. at that time) for the "Implementation of Custom Electronic Services – ICISnet” project that will provide electronic services to transacting Customs Users.

ICISnet is one single, modern, grid system and provides information to Customs officers in real time (online) about Customs controls, payments, etc. It also interfaces with third party systems (e.g. DIAS, Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (TAXUD) and Customs systems from other EU countries through CCN/CSI, economic operators systems via web services) for service transactions and data exchange a secure manner. It is a combination of internal private information systems at the IARP and the Customs Service and an outward public information system. The first will serve internal users and external users through a VPN, while the second will provide information services to unregistered citizens and to authenticated users of economic operators via the Internet (Internet). Since the system has started, it has been many upgrades and enhancements which kept the system updated according the EU regulations applied after the date, and implementing many National requirements towards to the directions to keep customers satisfied, covering their need as they have been came up the last years.
